Toronto & GTA.
Water in motion. Stone with presence. Pool waterfalls, spillways and garden features that bring a resort atmosphere home.
Design your water featureSee the movement.
Hear the difference.
Milton Stone designs and installs custom water features in Toronto and the GTA, including Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Mississauga. Our work includes pool waterfalls, spillways, water jets, natural stone fountains, garden cascades and modern water walls.
A well-placed feature gives the backyard a focal point and a new layer of sound. We design it with the pool, patio, garden walls and seating so the whole space feels connected.
Resort-level detail can work on a regular suburban property. The goal is a considered composition, with the right scale, materials and space to enjoy it.
One landscape.
Every detail connected.
The water
Choose a broad waterfall, a series of spillways, a spa overflow or a garden fountain. The type of movement helps set the mood of the space.
The setting
Use stone walls, planted borders, steps and paving to give the feature a natural place in the backyard rather than treating it as a separate addition.
The experience
Bring together shade, seating, fire and lighting for a backyard that works throughout the day and feels inviting into the evening.
A focal point.
A complete retreat.
Explore contemporary water features as part of a complete residential backyard. These generated design concepts illustrate possibilities; your final layout is developed for your property.
The waterfall wall
Three spillways, light stone and layered planting frame a pool beside a cedar cabana and fire lounge.
Residential design conceptThe spa & sculptural spouts
Copper-toned spouts and a spa spillway bring movement to a charcoal stone wall, with dining and evening seating nearby.
Residential design conceptFind your
flow.
Start with the style you want, then consider how the feature looks from the house, sounds beside the lounge and fits the available space.
We can develop the water feature alongside a new pool or review an addition as part of a pool renovation.
01Pool waterfalls & sheer descents
+
A clean sheet of falling water becomes an architectural focal point. Pair one broad spillway or a series of smaller descents with a stone-clad pool wall and a carefully composed planting bed.
02Spa spillways & water jets
+
Connect the experience of a raised spa and swimming pool with moving water, or introduce graceful jets around the pool edge. Feature selection is coordinated with the water system and surrounding layout.
03Natural stone fountains & cascades
+
From a sculptural stone fountain to a layered garden cascade, natural materials create texture and movement. A garden setting can be designed independently of a swimming pool.
04Modern concrete water features
+
Geometric basins and crisp waterfall forms suit contemporary landscapes. Shape, finish, containment and circulation are considered together so the feature feels intentional.
05Water walls & water screens
+
Use a vertical water feature as a focal point for a patio, lounge or garden. We consider viewing angles, water sound, splash, maintenance access and the relationship to nearby seating.
Beautiful above.
Considered below.
The visible stonework is one part of the project. We review water containment, circulation, plumbing routes, equipment access, lighting and seasonal care alongside the design.
For an existing pool, the review also considers the pool structure, current equipment and the work needed around the deck. Feature size and flow are selected in the context of the complete installation.
Pricing is project-specific. Material choices, wall or basin construction, access, servicing and landscape integration all influence the quote. Share photos and an idea of your budget to begin.

Water feature questions
The details,
made clear.
What types of custom water features does Milton Stone build?
Milton Stone designs and installs pool waterfalls, spillways, water jets, water walls, natural stone fountains, garden cascades and contemporary concrete water features. Designs can be part of a new pool and landscape project or assessed as an addition to an existing backyard.
Can you add a waterfall to an existing pool?
It may be possible after a site and equipment review. We assess the pool structure, available space, access, plumbing route and circulation system before recommending a wall, spillway or other feature. The amount of surrounding deck and landscape work depends on the existing construction.
Can I have a water feature without a swimming pool?
Yes. A garden fountain, stone cascade, water wall or freestanding basin can create a focal point independently of a swimming pool. The design still needs suitable water containment, circulation, equipment access and a plan for seasonal care.
What is the difference between a sheer descent and a stone cascade?
A sheer descent creates a defined sheet of falling water from a spillway, often within a contemporary wall. A stone cascade directs water across stepped or textured stone for a more natural appearance. The height, flow and receiving surface influence the sound and splash.
How much does a custom water feature cost?
Pricing depends on the feature size, materials, wall or basin construction, water system, lighting, access and how it connects to the existing landscape or pool. Milton Stone provides a project-specific quote after reviewing your property and preferred design.
Can you combine waterfalls with garden walls, pergolas and fire features?
Yes. We design water features alongside garden walls, pool patios, pergolas, cabanas, lighting and fire lounges. Planning these together helps coordinate materials, usable space, servicing and the overall backyard layout.
How is seasonal care planned?
Care depends on the installed system. The design should allow access for cleaning, equipment maintenance and seasonal shutdown. We discuss the selected equipment and its winterization requirements as part of the project rather than assuming every feature can operate through winter.
Where do you install custom water features?
Milton Stone serves Oakville, Burlington, Toronto, Milton, Mississauga and surrounding GTA communities. Send your project address, photos and preferred feature style to start a consultation.
Are the backyard images photographs of completed projects?
The images on this page are generated design concepts illustrating water features within residential backyard layouts. They are inspiration for a site-specific design, not photographs of completed Milton Stone installations.
