THE PROJECT AT A GLANCE
A considered restoration.
Location: Bridle Path, Toronto
Property: Private estate
Initial scope: Custom spa interior and concrete pool renovation
Return work: Natural stone repairs and rooftop terrace renovation
The homeowner came to us through a friend’s recommendation. An earlier attempt to retile the spa had left problems unresolved, and the client wanted a responsive team to take over the work.
The brief was specific: complete the hot tub interior using tiles the homeowner had retained from the original pool construction, then address the existing pool’s repair needs.
FROM REMOVAL TO RESTORATION
The details beneath the finish.
The previous tile installation needed corrective work. Our assessment identified concerns with the tile selection and bonding materials. The task called for more than covering the visible surface: the unsuccessful installation had to be addressed as part of restoring the spa interior.
Working with the homeowner’s original tiles
The client supplied tiles retained from the original construction and asked us to use them inside the hot tub. The restored finish follows the spa’s seats, steps and curved interior, reconnecting the space visually with the surrounding pool and stone terrace.
THE WIDER POOL SETTING
Beyond the spa interior.
Alongside the hot tub work, MILTON STONE renovated the existing concrete pool and completed a series of associated repairs. This included replacing damaged glass at the infinity-pool edge.
The spa was one part of a much larger outdoor setting. Our work focused on restoring those existing features while respecting the character of the estate.
A RELATIONSHIP THAT CONTINUED
Invited back.
The homeowner was pleased with the service and attention to detail. What began as a referral for an urgent restoration developed into an ongoing relationship: we were later called back for natural stone repairs and a complete rooftop terrace renovation.
That return work is part of the project’s story. The photographs here document the pool and spa phase.
Planning a pool or spa restoration?
Can retained tiles be used in a restoration?
For this project, the homeowner supplied tiles retained from the original pool construction. For another property, the available quantity, condition and suitability of the tiles need to be assessed alongside the repair scope before reuse is agreed.
Did this project involve building a new pool?
No. This was a restoration of an existing custom spa and concrete pool, including damaged glass replacement at the infinity edge and other pool repairs.
Can the surrounding stonework be addressed too?
Yes. The homeowner later engaged MILTON STONE for natural stone repairs and a rooftop terrace renovation. A consultation can help establish which repairs should be addressed together and which belong in a later phase.
